Adult Day Care
Adult Day Care Center
Our ultimate aim here at the Fallbrook Adult Day Care is to help older adults—including those who may be dealing with some level of dementia—live safely, happily and independently, remaining in their own home for as long as possible. One way we assist with that is to offer a safe and engaging place for these folks to come for the day—once or twice a week or perhaps every day, depending on their needs and the needs of their family. Our Adult Day Care Center is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and runs $70 for a full day’s activities.
Affectionately nicknamed “The Club,” our day care is cheerful, calm and relaxing—a welcoming environment that is always staffed by friendly and experienced caregivers. We love providing our clients with new opportunities to socialize, or to get out of the house for a bit while still keeping them perfectly safe.
The Club is a fun, enjoyable and engaging place for adults to come throughout the day to socialize in a safe environment. Client safety is our top priority, and we choose all activities to comply with the different physical and cognitive abilities of our clients. We also go to great lengths to ensure the additional snacks we provide meet all pertinent dietary requirements. Actual activities can be highly variable, and might include cooking, games, discussion of current events, chair-er-cize, crafts, visiting pet therapists and live entertainment.
The Club works in tandem with our other services here at the Foundation, and that includes our Senior Care Advocacy program. Our Care Advocates meet with clients on a one-on-one basis to offer support, provide resources and discuss aging concerns. Valuing the comfort and privacy of our clients, we are happy to meet with them in their homes. After completing an assessment for each client’s needs, the Senior Care Advocate is able to develop a care plan that will provide and recommend resources and services pertinent to each case.
The Senior Care Advocate program is totally dependent on donations, and works with many local organizations and government offices to ensure the highest quality of service and care. These are just a few of our community partners: North County Fire Protection District, Fallbrook Volunteer Sheriff Senior Patrol/YANA (You Are Not Alone), Fallbrook Food Pantry, Adult Protective Services, American Red Cross, Lifeline, People to People, and more.
Care Van Transportation Program
Something else we can offer to our clients is an adult transportation service, which we call our Care Van. Also fueled entirely by donations, the Care Van program provides rides to the seniors and disabled adults who need them, including door-to-door transportation to The Club, medical appointments, physical therapy, the pharmacy, the grocery store and more. We run the vans from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday. While we prefer that reservations are made at least 48 hours in advance we try to accommodate last minute needs as well. Note that medical appointments take priority for our van drivers!
Computer Learning Center
It is never too late to learn a new skill, least of all a skill as important as operating a computer! That is why we conduct a Senior Computer Learning Center, where skilled instructors go over the fundamentals of PC use with folks from all over our community. Anyone who is 50 years or older, and eager to learn something about computer competency, is invited to join us and receive plenty of individual attention!
Fallbrook and other communities in the northern San Diego area have many senior adults, and are perhaps struggling with memory loss, but ultimately have so much zest for life remaining. We want to serve them, engage them, advocate for them and keep them safe. Contact us today to learn more.
