Computer Classes Offered for Seniors

FOUNDATION FOR SENIOR CARE OPENS REGISTRATION FOR FALL COMPUTER CLASSES

Fallbrook — September 7, 2018        The Foundation for Senior Care will sponsor a series of computer classes taught by volunteer computer technicians at the Crestview Estates Clubhouse. Registration is open online at www.foundationforseniorcare.org or at the Foundation for Senior Care,135 S Mission Road, Fallbrook (the corner of Mission and Fig) from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

The seven classes being offered are: The “Cloud”, Connecting with Your Neighbors, Home Safety, Alexa, Taking and Managing Photos on Your Android Smart Phone, Family Tree Maker/Genealogy, and Solving Spreadsheet Problems.

Classes are one, two or four weeks long and meet for two hours once a week. Classes start Monday, September 17 and cost between $10-$40. Class size is limited to 8 students and fill up quickly. Classes are held at Crestview Estates Club house located at 1120 E. Mission Rd., Fallbrook. “We are very excited to offer four new classes designed to help seniors more effectively use their electronic devices in their everyday lives”, says long time volunteer Obie Weeks. “Alexa explains the home assistant from Amazon while The “Cloud” will cover how to use The “Cloud” in everyday computing.  Home Safety is an overview of the new electronic devices to help make you safer at home and Connecting With Your Neighbor covers how to use Nextdoor and Facebook to connect with your neighbors.”

In addition to classes held at Crestview Estates Clubhouse, the Foundation for Senior Care hosts a weekly open lab on Fridays called Fix it Friday where seniors can walk in for help with software or hardware problems.  There is no charge for this service but donations are encouraged.

  1. Just finished on line spreadsheet class with instructor Obie Weeks, very informative but now I see you offer class on Cloud, when is that offered?
    Also class on arranging photos, but only on Android…I have APPLE Mac…any
    advise on organizing photos on iPad. Also I am signed up for organizing desktop, etc. but Obie tells me not available for me because I have a MAC.

      Hi Marilyn,
      So glad you enjoyed the class on spreadsheets. You are already in touch with Obie, so I would check with him to see if you can join a Fix-It-Friday session and get help with photos on a Mac. If so you would register on our website for a Fix-It-Friday date that works for you. They are available every Friday.
